Additional Information On the above date and time, I was dispatched to an overflowing grease trap that had entered a storm drain which emptied into 2 retention ponds. I spoke with the RP who works for the City of Dover's Code Enforcement. She advised that when she arrived on scene, the grease trap that is underground and in the parking lot next to the business was actively discharging. She described it as a guizer. I then spoke with the restaurants Senor Manager, Angie Kelchner, who stated that they had recently had their grease traps emptied by a contracted company, but she feels that thy didn't really empty the tank. The discharge did travel down the parking lot, entering a storm drain, which emptied into 2 separate retention ponds. Both ponds had a sheen on them, believed to be from the grease that had entered the storm drain. Apparently the grease trap has been discharging for several days. I contacted DNREC ERB OSC Mike Greco who advised that they would not be responding and for the business to contact an environmental clean up company. I relayed this message to Ms. Kelchner. She also had the contracted company who empties the grease traps to arrive, which they did, and emptied the tanks. An employee with the company advised that they ran a camera through the pipes and found that it was clogged. At the time of this report, the clogging issue was being corrected and the business contacted an environmental clean up company to flush the storm drain and mediate the retention ponds.
